The Lackawanna County and Scranton City/Scranton School District 2026 real estate tax bills will be received by the taxpayers prior to the end of February 2026.
The bills contain the new assessed values. ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THE REASSESSMENT VALUES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE LACKAWANNA COUNTY ASSESSMENT OFFICE AT 570-963-6728.
Lackawanna County now provides the option to pay your Lackawanna County real estate tax bill in full or in four installments. The installments will be due by March 31st, June 30th, August 31st and October 30th. Non-payment of installments by the due date will result in a penalty.
Residents of the City of Scranton will receive two tax bills this year: one for their County real estate taxes and the other for the City/School District taxes. .
The Single Tax Office is located on the first floor of the Lackawanna County Department of Health and Human Services building located at 315 Franklin Avenue, Scranton.
This site provides residents with plenty of free parking, allowing them to walk in and pay their taxes in person, or the opportunity to utilize the drive-through window.
Other options to pay your Lackawanna County, City of Scranton and Scranton School District taxes are by utilizing our two drop box locations. They can be found in the vestibule of the Lackawanna County Government Center at 123 Wyoming Avenue, or the night deposit drop box located in the first drive-through window at 315 Franklin Avenue. The Discount Period for 2026 Real Estate Taxes will run through Wednesday, April 15th.
First installment payments for Lackawanna County, Scranton City and Scranton School District are due by Tuesday, March 31st.
All incorrect payment amounts will be returned to the taxpayer.

Methods to Pay Your Real Estate Taxes
• If you are paying by check, you can utilize the Dropbox for the Single Tax Office located in the vestibule of the Lackawanna County Government Center, 123 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton which is accessible Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. A second drop box location is the night deposit drop box located in the first drive-through window at 315 Franklin Avenue which is accessible after 4:30pm Monday through Friday and weekends.
• Taxpayers who utilize the drop box or mail their tax payments should include a stamped self-addressed envelope to receive a receipt or include an email address on the payment coupon for an emailed receipt.
• Payments can also be made online with additional fees. Payment by an E-Check has a .75¢ fee; Credit and debit card payments will have a service charge of 2.15%, with a minimum fee of $1.00.
• Credit/Debit card fees are non-refundable.
Refuse Fee Information
• The City of Scranton and Scranton School District Real Estate Taxes cannot be paid without payment of the Refuse Fee.
• City and School District taxes, along with the Refuse Fee, can be paid quarterly using the coupons at the bottom of the bill. No other partial payments will be accepted.
• If you believe you are entitled to an exoneration of any portion of the Refuse Fee due to vacancy, contact the Scranton Treasury Bureau to apply for an exoneration. All refund requests will be processed in December 2026 or January 2027.
• Applications can be found on the City of Scranton’s website at scrantonpa.gov. For additional information contact the Treasurer’s Office at (570) 348-4107.
